The speculation has been fuelled by Amazon's recent purchase of New York tech start up Touchco, which has patented some very advanced touch screen technology. The company recently posted a video on YouTube which showed how its technology could be used to develop flexible strips that could potentially be used in wearable devices. It also shows a variety of mock-ups for new e-readers.
Amazon recently released a developer's kit for its Kindle devices. This enables third parties to develop applications for the ereader in a similar way that developers have created apps for the iPhone. Its currently has two models available in the UK - the Kindle, which has a 6 inch screen, and the Kindle DX which sports a 9.7inch screen.
